  • Option3: Connect 12v battery directly to Router (9 volts DC internet router via a 12v battery)

Connect a 7809 Voltage Regulator IC across the battery and connect the output of the 7809 to the router. I don't think the IC should heat as the current is only 600 mA. It might become just marginally warm, so heat-sinking will not be required. Even if you don't connect the input and output capacitors for the 7809, shown below, it should work fine.

  • Option4 : Use your car battery to power your Router and laptop with old UPS circuit


  • when you open the ups it will look similar to this image: 

  • remove the wires from internal battery and connect it to car battery, (remember red connects to + and black connects to - on the battery )
  • now you can use the ups/inverter for connecting any home appliance upto 300 watts.
  • you cannot use it for fridge or other high power consuming devices, you can use it to run mixer grinder, tv, radio, light,fan.
  • To directly turn on ups on power failure, you will need to connect your devices through the ups .
















It is ok to use car battery, if you have it lying around in the home. Dont buy car battery for this.. because it will not last long. (Use Lead acid batteries of high amp )

NOTE : UPS is not recommended for using home devices, because it does not produce a pure sin wave. You will hear a humming sound from fans when you run them.

CIRCUIT TO CREATE 16 DIGITAL INPUTS FROM 5 DIGITAL PINS OF ARDUINO MEGA

If the circuit is not working, remove the potential divider resistors connected to the 9 th  pin of both 74165 ICs and connect the 9 th  pin of both 74165 ICs to corresponding digital pin of arduino mega directly without any resistors. That is, connect 9 th  pin of 1 st  74165 to digital pin 12 of arduino mega and 9 th  pin of 2 nd  74165 to digital pin 10 of arduino mega. From the circuit, it is clear that A – H pins of both 74165s is connected to 5V through pull up resistors of 1K. Pull up resistors helps to keep the state of A – H pins of 74165s to HIGH when the press button switches are not pressed.
